This will be the fourth time we have done Mt Richardson it’s a top hike!

This walk could be good for all fitness levels as there is a smaller loop the Glentui Track (1 hour) this can be a good option if you are not keen to hike to the top of Mt Richardson.

The climb to the top is steep in places and will take 2:15 to get to the top! The afternoon walk is one of the best that you can do in Canterbury and IF the weather is fine views are breathtaking.

We are not full on experienced trampers it all about getting to the top and having and enjoyable day with nature we don’t leave anyone behind.

Bring: plenty of water, snacks, lunch, layers of clothing as it will be cool under the canopy and do bring your wet weather gear even if it looks sunny!

TRANSPORTATION

What we normally do as we meet at </a><a href=”https://maps.google.com/maps?q=37 Edmond St. Woolston Christchurch‎ , 8062, Christchurch”>James and Danny Place in the City and have a coffee and a bit of a natter then we organise the cars, both James and I can take about 10 people between us! It is a good idea to text Danny telling him you will need transport ()

COST

If you could just give your driver $10 dollars (per person) this is for the return ride and helps keep it affordable for all.

So you can start coming from 7:30am as that is when the coffee machine is on!

We will need to get away no later than 8:15am so we can meet the others at 9:00am in Rangiora. (Coffee Works?)

Message us or text Danny on   if you would like further details 🙂

PLEASE NOTE

Essential items to carry

• Water
• Food
• Warm clothing (even on hot days)

Anyone who does not come with the essential items listed above may be excluded from joining us that day.  Thank you for understanding that this is for the safety of all participants.

Highly Recommended items to carry

• Wet weather gear
• Strong and suitable footwear.  Trainers may be suitable on some walks but are often not suitable on mountain walks.

Although we encourage anyone to join in and beginners are certainly welcome, please be aware of the fitness level some walks require. If the word ‘Mt’ is in the title its up a mountain and may not be a good starting walk for beginners or people with lower fitness levels.  If in doubt start with one of our easier walks and work your way up.
