We doing Hogs Back Track Hike (Castle Hill Village) and for those who would like to come and do Cave Stream at the end of the walk with Danny.

What we normally do as we meet at James and Danny Place in the City and have a coffee and a bit of a natter then we organise the cars, both James and I can take about 10 people between us! It is a good idea to text Danny telling him you will need transport ()

So you can start coming from 8:00am as that is when the coffee machine is on!

We will need to get away no later than 8:30am to meet other all the way as we head to Castle Hill Village.

Message us or text Danny on if you would like further details 🙂

COST

If you could just give your driver $10 dollars (per person) this is for the return ride and helps keep it affordable for all.

Driving time: 1 hour 30 minutes, with a coffee stop there at either Springfield or Sheffield.

Start: Castle Hill Village.

Drive into Village and stay high (road loops down and back around to entrance again).

In 150m stop at tennis courts for toilets.

Then carry on driving another 150m leaving tar seal road and taking the dirt road on your right hand side (before tar seal road loops downhill) and park in bush car park.

Fitness level: Average, but views spectacular!
Walking Distance: 7.4 km (each way)
Walking Time: Approx. 4 hr return
Users: Mountain bike riders & walkers

Walk Info: From the access road to Thomas Bush just west of Castle Hill Village the track climbs through beech forest onto the Long Spur ridgeline.

After following the ridgeline the track then descends across the open flats below Long Spur to the beech forest at Long Creek.

A walk through the beech forest is followed by a short climb up the true right of Waterfall Creek.

After crossing Waterfall Creek the track then traverses across to the western side of the Hogs Back ridge before dropping down to Texas Flat (via Ernie’s Mistake).

PLEASE NOTE

Essential items to carry

• Water
• Food
• Warm clothing (even on hot days)

Anyone who does not come with the essential items listed above may be excluded from joining us that day. Thank you for understanding that this is for the safety of all participants.

Highly Recommended items to carry

• Wet weather gear
• Strong and suitable footwear. Trainers may be suitable on some walks but are often not suitable on mountain walks.

Although we encourage anyone to join in and beginners are certainly welcome, please be aware of the fitness level some walks require. If the word ‘Mt’ is in the title its up a mountain and may not be a good starting walk for beginners or people with lower fitness levels. If in doubt start with one of our easier walks and work your way up.
