ABOUT

Sugar Loaf Circuit this is one of the best short circular tracks on the Port Hills, well suited for families. From opposite the Sign of the Kiwi, the Crater Rim Walkway resumes on the Lyttelton side of Sugar Loaf (where it is called the Mitchells Track) and sidles throught substantial native bush with dominant manhone, lancewood, papaumu (broadleaf) and lemonwood (tarata), with some tunefull bellbirds. Excellentlookout with seat on the way.

About 20 minutes to amble to the far side of Sugar Loaf, and here you can return via Cedrics Track, which crosses to the Sugar Loaf carpark, then goes back to the Sign of the Kiwi. Gilpins Track is a slightly higher alternative track to Mitchells, and is in good conditions with seats.
