I’m Roydon Gibbs, The Engagement Activist™ – an experienced learning and development professional who specialises in helping people activate personal strategies for sustainable employee engagement.

Since the late 1990s I have worked on the design and delivery of learning and development solutions for individuals, businesses, educators, Private Training Establishments, Industry Training Organisations and commercial training providers throughout New Zealand. I am regularly contracted as a facilitator by the New Zealand Institute of Management (Sthn) to delivery training for their clients. I also provide consultative services to a range or organisations.

I have first-hand experience working in a variety of environments, from a global organisation to small family run businesses. In the early 1990s I worked as a manager and supervisor in bars, restaurants and travel hotels throughout New Zealand, then retrained in design before moving on to the field of learning and development. My earliest work experiences were in the property maintenance and commercial cleaning industry. This varied background of experience has equipped me with an insightful and practical approach to the realities of employee engagement.

Personal integrity and professional ethics are important to me and I ground my practice in evidence-based research and an up-to-date understanding of learning and development. Articles I have written about learning and communication have been published by Thomson Reuters in both Safeguard and Employment Today magazines.

I have professional membership (MNZATD) of the NZ Association for Training and Development. I am also an accredited speaking member of the National Speakers Association of NZ. My academic qualifications are in the fields of adult learning and visual communication with a Diploma in Adult Teaching and Learning (Level 7) and a Diploma of Computer Graphic Design.
