Merv has travelled widely. His 12 years of coach driving and guiding throughout New Zealand has inspired him to expand into providing boutique accommodation and a personal tour planning assistance for international visitors.

Merv’s love of meeting people and his pleasure at seeing them have a great experience while travelling in New Zealand are among the most rewarding facets of his coach driving and guiding career. It is this enjoyment that motivated him to create Waipuna Estate where he has expanded his services to assist visitors to have a great experience.

One of the most enjoyable parts of his driving experience is seeing people from overseas enjoy a stay in a rural setting and meet everyday Kiwi people.

At Waipuna Estate, travellers, who often hail from from large cities, have the opportunity to sit over a meal and a glass of wine and chat with local people and learn a little about everyday life in New Zealand.

Merv’s rural background and his work experience gives him first-hand knowledge of destinations and a unique perspective, particularly in the South Island. For those who would prefer to add some out–of-the-way places to the more popular tourist destinations, Merv can assist with ideas and suggestions. This service appeals to people who choose to plan their own tour and drive themselves.

WAIPUNA ESTATE is the venue to host your wedding or private functions such as birthdays, anniversaries or family get-together.

Our accommodation is designed to offer guests a taste of genuine New Zealand life in luxurious surroundings, with spectacular views of the Southern Alps dusted with snow in the winter, and a wide vista of Christchurch city in the distance.

Located in Tai Tapu, within 30 minutes from Christchurch city and airport.

The modern and spacious villa offers 4 guest bedrooms with 3 bathrooms.

The master bedroom with its amazing views is also the perfect honeymoon suite where privacy is assured.

The main lounge and dining area offers ample space for an intimate dinner party or private conference venue.

WEDDING VENUE / EVENT VENUE

Waipuna offers the perfect setting as your wedding or event venue.

Located near Tai Tapu , Waipuna is set in a peaceful rural environment, yet is only 25 minutes from the centre of Christchurch.

Waipuna is the perfect venue if you are planning an intimate wedding, celebrating your engagement or hosting a private function.

With multiple indoor and outdoor options for your event – you will be guaranteed stunning views and the grandeur and warmth of the home all in a private setting.

If you are looking for an intimate “first night”, the Kowhai Room is the ideal honeymoon suite, complete with its amazing views, and bubbly and nibbles. Breakfast is also included. A pick up from the wedding venue is available.

If it’s a larger event you are planning, the outdoor flow onto the terrace means Waipuna can cater for up to 70 guests.

The large lounge is ideal for dinner parties/birthday parties, etc, and the adjoining formal lounge gives added flexibility.

Waipuna is not just a summer venue – the double glazing and central heating make it a warm cosy intimate environment for a winter wedding, birthday party or small conference.
